A stand-alone reading of section 6. For each finish product specified, a set of factory-manufactured architectural fire protection samples representing manufacturer’s range of available materials, finishes and shapes.
Technical Manual B
In-place fire protection material not in compliance with the specification requirements must be corrected prior to the application of the decorative top coat. Packaged materials must bear the appropriate labels, seals and designated certification mark for fire resistive ratings. Fire Resistive Directory, Volume 1; Current edition. Final color, gloss and finish will be determined and approved by the Architect. Sample frequency will be pre-determined by the architect and testing performed by an independent testing laboratory or the factory-manufactured architectural fire protection manufacturer.
Materials must be applied in accordance with the project requirements for fire rating thickness, finish texture and color. Maintain air temperature and relative humidity in areas where products will be applied for a time period before during and after application as recommended by manufacturer. Submit manufacturer’s written installation instructions. A copy of the transport document and manufacturers conformance certificate shall be attached to the material delivery QC form.
The application must be witnessed by the Architect’s or Owner’s representative and is subject to their approval. Primer applied at the steel fabricators shop must be in accordance with the provisions of Section When I first encountered this instruction many years ago, I happened to be observing a fire test of a new formulation of an intumescent coating in a small-scale furnace conducted by one of our manufacturer members.
Requests for substitutions must be made 30 days prior to submittal and contain the full name of each product, descriptive literature, testing data collected from industry consensus standard testing, data on past performance, manufacturer’s instruction for use and generic type.

The factory manufactured architectural fire protection material is supplied at the required dry film thickness in accordance with the appropriate design listing. Install factory-manufactured architectural fire protection material only to primed surfaces and in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Delete the next paragraph if not applicable. Temperature and Humidity Requirements: Interchar can provide fully fire proofed steelwork without the need to topcoat. Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

The relative humidity of the application area shall not exceed a maximum of 85 percent for 24 hours prior, during and 24 hours after the application of the material. Provide ventilation in areas to receive work of this section during application and minimum 24 hours after application. Protect work area from windblown dust and rain. Verify that substrate and workspace temperature and humidity conditions are in accordance with requirements of this section.
A pair of measurements 12 inches apart on a given beam in no particular, random location along the beam — the tested tecnical could be near an end or in the middle of the span. Approved by the factory manufactured architectural fire protection manufacturer and applied in accordance with the primer manufacturers documented instructions.
All test results must be made available to all parties at the completion of each pre-designated area and approved prior to the application of top-coat. A awwci surface could be too slick because it has been coated with some kind of sealer, or the forms left a tight surface that was not roughed up or otherwise pretreated before the plaster was applied.
The use of a bonding agent may also improve the bond of portland cement plaster applied awcci relatively slick concrete, but the literature warns that one should ensure that it is an exterior grade bonding agent technucal a cheaper interior grade of bonding agent may not provide adequate bond.
Company specializing in installing the work of this section with a minimum of three years documented experience and certified by the material manufacturer. In other words, the concrete can’t be too slick or too dry. We have a problem with stucco that was applied directly over concrete that is now losing adhesion.
SECTION ARCHITECTURAL INTUMESCENT FIRE PROTECTION
At project closeout, provide to Owner or Owners Representative an executed copy of the manufacturer’s standard limited warranty against manufacturing defect, outlining its terms, conditions, and exclusions from coverage. All products listed in this section must be manufactured under the appropriate follow-up service with each container bearing the certified label mark. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified.

Approved by the factory manufactured architectural fire protection material manufacturer and applied in accordance with the topcoat manufacturer’s documented instructions.
Company specializing in manufacturing the work of this section with a minimum of three years documented experience and certified by the material manufacturer. Each layer of portland cement plaster that is applied to the concrete should be damp-cured to prevent drying too quickly.
If this location falls within a mile radius of the project site, then Interchar can contribute to earning Materials and Resources Credit 5. So, one might wonder, how many beams or other structural members per test? Interchar is primarily a spray applied material, and performs without the requirement for any reinforcement. Some argue that when testing a beam, the thickness must be tested in nine locations around the beam every 12 inches.

This section is techical on the products of International Protective Coatings, which is located at:. Before proceeding with the work, the installer will apply the primer, factory-manufactured architectural fire protection sections and decorative top coat to a representative substrate section of 10 square feet in size. When deciding on hechnical extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
