I purchased the Iomega screenplay HD 500GB thinking everything would go smooth with watching movie on my TV by just connecting this cool little device after movie compatible movie files to it. Boy was I wrong! 1st off I am fairly new to mac.

- There are four known firmware versions of the ScreenPlay Pro HD. You can get the latest firmware from iomega. 1 Firmware Updates 2 Firmware 9/19/2008 R1.0 3 Firmware R1.1 4 Firmware 2/12/2009 R1.5 5 Firmware 4/30/2009 R1.8 6 Firmware 1/15/2010 R1.98 (really 1.96) 7 Firmware 2/24/2010 R1.98 The firmware update CAN wipe out your entire drive. It is an option that is selected.
The ScreenPlay Director can play AC3, MP3, OGG, WAV, and WMA audio files (no AAC support). Supported video formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB), MPEG-4 (AVI/DivX/XViD), and H.264. The device can display video at 1080p resolution (24 frames per second).
The built-in ethernet connection lets you place the ScreenPlay Director on your home network (a USB WiFi Adapter is available separately for $50). The ScreenPlay Director has three USB ports, and additional hard drives can be conencted to the device to expand the storage capacity.

TV connectivity includes HDMI, Composite video, Component video, and coaxial S/PDIF.
The ScreenPlay Director allows for access to Roxio CinemaNow, where you can buy or rent videos and download them to the device.

Iomega says that the ScreenPlay Director is compatible with Macs, but there is no mention of iTunes interoperability.
